Marcos Dias hails from Brazil, and is one of the most decorated drivers to come out of the Lagos Young Driver Program. He raced for three years for Velocidade Máxima in the Brasilkart series. Equipe Diamante scouted him halfway through his third year during a particularly difficult title fight. Though Dias came in fourth, Equipe Diamante maintained their belief that he would make a strong driver for Formula D.
